Nature Reserve Estero de Domingo Rubio

The Nature Reserve Estero de Domingo Rubio, which belongs to the municipality of Palos de la Frontera is a wetland of great environmental importance. Its waters feed an important number of living beings which live in this area and furthermore, suppose an area of reception for birds visiting the surrounding area of the National Park Doñana. It extends next to the mouths of the rivers Tinto and Odiel. The marsh feeds itself from the water provided by the Atlantic Ocean, by a variety of streams, like the ones Juana Ruiz, el Principe or Juan Delgado and by the runoffs and rainfalls. For these reasons, the environmental conditions of the marsh vary according to the influence of the tides; like this we can distinguish three different stretches: the marsh area, middle stretch and the high stretch or lake stretch.
